At Fresh Fitness Food, every Thursday lunchtime our office Team links up for a group workout. It’s always a weekly highlight, it’s amazing to get a dose of movement in the middle of the day and connect with other colleagues in different areas of the business.

This week we were honoured to be invited down to One Ldn to join their 30-minute lunchtime “Sweat” class. We’re very fortunate to have One Ldn just around the corner from our new office. It’s no secret that One Ldn has been a flagship facility within the London fitness scene for a long time, here are three things that I believe they do very well:

1. The space itself. This is a facility that really has merged a conventional gym and the functional world incredibly well. When most gyms attempt this, they often end up compromising on one or the other, but they’ve really nailed both. Think of it as where performance meets play – state-of-the-art free weights & equipment for a solo workout or the “Playground” for some amazing classes and functional concepts.

2. Events.
There’s always something going on at One. The Friday Night Lights (FNL) sessions are free and open to all, every Friday evening.

3. Community.
With so much going on under one roof, One Ldn has built a really friendly and supportive community of coaches and members – everyone really gets on and this resonates with a really good vibe in their classes.

The Workout

The “Sweat” sessions are an intense 30-minute blitz for all levels – it worked really perfectly over lunchtime.

Following a solid warm-up, on the menu this week was an AMRAP (as many rounds as possible for 20 minutes).

  • Row 400m or Run 200m
    Straight into the following ladder:
  • DB Thrusters (starting at 6 reps, add 2 reps each round)
  • DB Renegade Row (starting at 6 reps, add 2 reps each round)
  • Sit Ups (starting at 6 reps, add 2 reps each round)
(Back to the row or run and move up the ladder)

    Rule (for good measure):
    6 Burpees every 3 mins

Round Up

My thoughts on the workout:

  • I literally didn’t stop moving for 30 minutes (there was basically no rest) – I’d usually hate this, but I was happy to get on with it given the fact it was a half-hour session. I felt like I accomplished a lot in a short window – this is a feeling I always strive for when trying to squeeze some movement into my lunch break!
  • Those burpees really took it out of me, especially in the later rounds when the reps got higher.
  • You know the intensity is great when the run feels like a rest!
  • Despite the intensity being high, I thought it was great that all of my colleagues were able to get involved in the workout. All of the movements were really accessible to all levels and didn’t require scaling, I thought this was a really nice touch.

Key Learnings:

  • Thrusters are horrible
  • Our Office Team should venture down to One Ldn more regularly – that was an amazing use of my lunchtime.

Verdict

  • Sweat – 9/10
  • Endorphins – 10/10
  • Recommendation – 10/10
