At Fresh Fitness Food, we’re big believers in the power of a group workout to energise, inspire, and bring people together. This week, 20 members of Staff and Brand Partners took on a testing workout at Manor’s notorious MCP site in Victoria – and what a session it was!
MCP @ Manor
MCP Manor is unlike any other gym in London. It’s raw, rugged, and completely immersive, yet still perfectly equipped to push you to your absolute limits. It’s hard to put into words – the atmosphere, the set-up, the vibe – you truly have to experience it for yourself to understand. If you’re looking for a workout that challenges you both physically and mentally, MCP delivers.
The Coach: Lauren
Our session was led by Lauren Sullivan.
Lauren is no stranger to a challenge herself:
Lauren broke a 24-hour burpee world record back in 2022.
6247 burpees in 24 hours!! Watch here.
Her enthusiasm throughout the session was contagious, and she made sure every team was pushing themselves while keeping the workout enjoyable and inclusive for a variety of fitness levels.
The Workout: 40 Minutes of Team Grit
The session was set up for teams of three, with a 40-minute time cap to complete the following:
100 Calorie Assault Runner
100 Axel Bar Clean and Press
300m Team Run (Yard Lap)
20 Synchro Squats
100 Calorie Ski Erg
60 Sandbag Over Shoulder
300m Team Run (Yard Lap)
20 Synchro Squats
100 Calorie Assault Bike
100 Burpees
300m Team Run (Yard Lap)
20 Synchro Squats
(Just a light end-of-year session for the team, right?)
Round-Up:
Thoughts on the Session:
- The assault runner, ski erg and assault bikes: it’s always nasty to see the calories stack up so slowly on these, but a blessing to be able to split the load with team members.
- Burpees: Let’s just say these never seem to get easier (even coach Lauren agreed).
- Axel bar clean and press: The axel bar brought a nice bit of variety to this workout, it’s not so often that you come up against an axel bar!Â
- Synchro squats: The teamwork element shone here – staying in sync really required focus (and a bit of laughter when we weren’t quite there!).
- The runs: The 300m runs added a perfect reset between the stations (if you can call it that).
The team dynamic: With 20 people split into groups, there was constant camaraderie and competition, which always makes a handful of colleagues push a little too hard!
Key Learnings:
- Working out in teams brings out the best in everyone – we pushed harder than we would have alone.
- Squats in sync? Easier said than done!
- MCP Manor is a must-visit if you want a truly immersive, team-focused challenge. I have visited many times during my time with FFF, and I can confidently say it’s the creme de la creme of places to train in London.
Final Verdict
- Workout: 10/10
- Endorphins: 9/10
- Team Energy: 10/10
